Abandoned at birth, Jane Smith didn’t have much experience with the elusive emotion of love. Frankly, she didn’t even believe that any such emotion existed. After all, she had gotten along just fine all on her own for twenty some years. She certainly didn’t need some obnoxious, over inflated, egotistical man coming into her world and turning it upside down.
“Mike,” thought entirely too highly of himself, and Jane was one woman that would not fall at his feet just because he was a prince (and probably the most handsome man she had ever seen in her life). His strong broad shoulders and dark brown hair or his midnight blue eyes did nothing for her, nor did his whiskey-smooth accent send messages of warning to her female parts.
But most of all, Jane Smith was a big ole liar.
Prince Mikal SuMartra had no idea why the small blonde on stage attracted him. Her figure was quite slim, which made other parts of her full lush body all the more tempting. The conflicting glimpses from the saucy siren with blushing innocence intrigued him. The way she reacted to his touch, he knew that a night in her arms would be pleasure-filled for both of them.
Her blatant refusal only made him more determined than ever to have her. Mikal couldn’t wait to peel away the many faces of Jane to uncover the true jewel beneath.
This over 15 thousand word novella is the complete story of Jane and Mikal as they struggle to find their way to the beginning of their happy ever after.

Very, very short story. It was pretty cute, but like most short stories it lacked any relationship development. The couple had smex pretty much right after their first formal date.

The story opens with: the heroine, a college student, is working as a topless dancer in order to make her tuition payments. She wants to be a teacher. The H, a prince, catches her performance at the club and is interested in her for some after hour services. He quickly finds out that she is only a dancer and nothing else. He manages to get her to agree to dinner. They wind up in bed. Then his father calls to let him know that he has selected a politically suitable wife for him and their country. The h leaves the H after a night of passion. She is devastated with his pending nuptials. After a few months, he returns for a one night stand. This time he leaves after their evening together. Months later, the H returns once again to make his declaration of love for the h. His fiancée is in love with another and breaks their engagement. The h feels she is second best with his explanation and proposal. She has always been second best growing up and turns him down. The story ends with a HEA, but it was not a satisfying one.

I liked both characters and the story itself, but felt that the relationship was not believable. The heroine was a scrappy fighter trying to juggle work and school. The H was honorable and was torn between love and duty. I've seen this plot many times before, but they were executed much better. During the periods they were apart, we see the heroine pine for the h via her thoughts and her everyday life, but we do not hear or see from the H again until he proposes. It would have been more credible if we shared what the H was going through or thinking during those months they were apart. He just swoops in after two sexual encounters in a period of a year and proposes and talks of the engagement breakup. We did not see him experience anguish or pain with having to select duty over love during their time apart. I did not believe in his proposal at the end because they were just words with no feelings or emotions. I am also inclined to go with the h on her being second choice. He was not convincing at the end.

Good story potential and likeable characters. There just wasn't enough of a foundation to build a HEA.

"Sweet Royal Beginnings is a romantic tale. Jane has a normal life, but a handsome prince unexpectedly enters her life, turning it upside down. In a flurry of romance, Jane gets swept off her feet. But just when her new life has begun, her handsome prince disappears! Will Jane ever find happiness again? Well, I don't want to spoil it, so you've got to read it yourself! Lizabeth Scott has written a pulse-pounding book that was a joy to read.
This delightful short story had me grinning at the end. Jane & Mikael come from two very diffrent worlds. Will they find common ground in the attraction they both feel?
This was an interesting story. Jane hasn't had a good life because she always felt that nobody loved her. She works I n the club to get through school and become a teacher. Jane meets Mikal and he pays for her college. He spends the weekend together and shed leaves while he sleeps. He comes back but he keeps saying things that makes her feel bad that she isn't worthy.
Sweet Royal Beginnings was the first book I've read by Lizabeth Scott. It wasn't a terrible story, but it fell flat for me. There were a few typos, too. Jane, the main character, wasn't very likeable. The chemistry between Jane and Mikal, I felt, was nonexistent. The characters were more stereotypes than real characters that felt three dimensional.
A well written short story that takes readers into the life of Jane Smith,a young woman with no family who is just trying to finish college and start a life for herself. The best way for her to make money in order to build her life is by being an exotic dancer. While dancing she meets a Prince and her life is turned upside down. A few twists and turns make this romance an interesting read.
A sweet short story to kick off what sounds like an awesome series of royal bliss. Jane is just the type of person that anyone who takes the time to know her would instantly fall for. Although where and how they meet doesn't really seem possible, the story falls into place quite well. Makal and Janea have a interesting connection.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to see your favorite fairytale turned sexy? Sweet Royal Beginnings gives you just that and more. This remarkable romantic short story makes you want more. It is a great start of a wonderful series. A steamy fairytale that I feel can grow into something big. I highly recommend Sweet Royal Beginnings.
